Activity 2. Role-playing activity.
Chanticleer. (n.d.). Storyberries. https://www.storyberries.com/fairy-tale-chanticleer-bedtime-stories-for-kids/
I chose this story because it combines humorous elements with a valuable lesson. Although it is a seemingly simple story about animals, it leaves a clear lesson about not being swayed by flattery and being careful around cunning people. It is also an entertaining way to learn about fables and values such as intelligence, humility, and prudence.
The previous activity is developed in this way:
-Warm-up: students have to look at the cover of the story and brainstorm about the tale. This activity is done in a large group.
-Development: read the history. The students will take turns reading aloud. We will stop to look at the images in the story.
-Cool-down: discuss the following questions with the students:
Do you like animals?
What is your favorite animal?
What have you learned from the story?
Which character did you like the most? And least?
Then, each student will play a character.
We will design a set and also have cardboard costumes or puppets for each character. The students will perform a play based on this story.
